Abstract

Currently, science and technology is developing very quickly, so efforts are needed to balance this acceleration, especially in the world of education. Innovations in learning must always be done to keep pace with the development of science and technology. engineering design process (EDP) is one of the strategies available to implement STEM education, has been utilized by many STEM-related subjects educators as a mean to implement STEM (Hafiz and Ayop 2019). The engineering design process allows students to use mathematics and science inquiry to create and conduct experiments for potential design solutions.. The purpose of this paper is providing an extensive bibliometric literature review on engineering design process'. Articles obtained from the Google Scholar database using Publishing or Perish (PoP) software. There were 762 out of 999 articles found from Google Scholar data base ranging from 2016 to 2021 analyzed in this study. The chosen references were then managed using a referencing manager software namely Mendeley. In this research, VOSviewer software is used to classify and visualize the database that has been managed. Overall, this review provides an appropriate reference point for further research on engineering design process

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the relationship between motivation and biology learning outcomes through distance learning in senior high school in Indonesia. The change in the face-to-face learning process to distance learning since the Covid-19 pandemic has had an impact on learning motivation that affects student learning outcomes. This type of research is descriptive with quantitative research methods. The research was conducted at one high school in Indonesia. The research subject consist of 80 students. The sampling technique was simple random sampling, which was done randomly, using an error rate of 5%. The data collection in this study used a questionnaire containing statements of students' learning motivation through distance learning using a Likert scale, and documents on students' biology learning outcomes in the odd midterm exams for the 2021/2022 academic year. The results of the Pearson product moment correlation test were obtained at 0.86 on intrinsic motivation and extrinsic motivation of 0.85, meaning that there is a relationship between motivation and biology learning outcomes through distance learning. The results of the t-test showed that the t-count of intrinsic motivation was 15.27 and the t-count of extrinsic motivation was 14.47, indicating that there was a significant relationship between motivation and learning outcomes of biology subject through distance learning. The coefficient of determination of intrinsic motivation is 75% and extrinsic motivation is 73%, this means that intrinsic motivation (X1) and extrinsic motivation (X2) contribute to student biology learning outcomes (Y).

Abstract

World is now rapidly changed by human activities that effect to environment and all of us. Process and product of science and technology transformed our knowledge and way of life to modern society. Local knowledge and scientific knowledge are related to means of co-learning space. Science education should play its importance roles and goals to use science and technology for sustainable development. The aim of this study was to compare Thai and Indonesian novice science teacher students in science attitude on environmental conservation based on local wisdom of Baduy’s society. The subjects were 95 of Thai and 71 of Indonesian novice science teacher students. They were asked indigenous knowledge for preserving natural resources and community practices. Attitude on environmental conservation is explored and explained through the scientific literacy test.  The results showed that mean score of Thai novice science teacher students had better than Indonesian movice science teacher students and significantly differences at .05 level of statistics. Need future studies which concern to improve science attitude and scientific literacy in the teacher education program.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the higher-order thinking skills of pre-service teachers through STEM-PjBL Model. The research method used was a quasi-experimental with one group pretest-posttest design. The N-Gain results mention the N-gain in both experimental and control classes that the physics learning process through the STEM-PjBL Model is 21% higher in improving higher-order thinking skills than Direct Learning. Improvement of students' ability to solve HOTS categorical questions in the experimental group taught by applying STEM-PjBL Model scored N-Gain 75% or 0.75, which increases the high category. In comparison, the control group led by applying the Direct Learning model achieved 54% or 0.54, meaning a moderate increase in categories. The results showed that learning using STEM-PjBL Model could improve higher-order thinking skills more than Direct Instruction Learning. The implications of this research include: gaining new knowledge that can be used as a pre-service teacher’, adding insight regarding STEM-PjBL Model that can be used to grow students' science process skills, assisting schools in improving the quality of students, and the quality of the physics learning process in schools.

Abstract

The main objective of this study was to develop a Physics laboratory activity kit for the Do-It-Yourself (DIY) Physics equipment and laboratory activity to be used in Physics classes of high school students. The resulting kit was assessed by the selected pre-service and in-service Physics teachers. This study employed a mixed methods. Assessment of the laboratory activity kit which includes the Student Worksheets, Teacher’s Guide, and Equipment Construction was done by the in-service and pre-service Physics teachers in order to ensure a workable DIY Physics equipment and quality laboratory activity kit which shall be of great use in Physics class. The pre-service and in-service rated the Student Worksheet as very good. The DIY Physics equipment was workable. The laboratory activity for the DIY Physics equipment was appropriate for the fourth-year students. The Teacher’s Guide in the laboratory activity kit was very good and can guide the teacher on what to do before, during, and after the activity. The Equipment Construction was very good and appropriate for the teacher’s guide and laboratory activity.
